Dr Simon Fynn

He trained in Cambridge and London before undertaking cardiology training in Manchester.

Simon subsequently spent 2 years at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia as a Fellow in Cardiac Electrophysiology working for Professor Jon Kalman, a recognised world leader in this field.

In 2003, Simon was awarded an M.D. by the University of Cambridge for his thesis on the mechanisms behind recurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF). Since that time, he has maintained a strong interest in AF and published numerous peer-reviewed papers on this and related subjects.

Dr Fynn was appointed at Papworth as Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist in 2004. His sub speciality interest is cardiac rhythm management.
Beginning with weekly teaching sessions for the junior doctors and physiologists, he has developed a passion for teaching on ECG interpretation.

Simon has lectured extensively on ECG interpretation over the past 10 years at local, national and international meetings.

He believes all healthcare professionals should have access to expert training – and he questions whether that is currently being delivered by the NHS.

Hence Cambridge Medicine, which he set up in 2013, with the dual aims of delivering high quality and affordable training for frontline practitioners.
